How to limit INPUT TEXT boxes to numbers only? 1

I have an input box on my web page but don't know how to limit the user to inputting Social Security Number, for example?

That page even breaks down the SSN to the 3 distinct parts, and jumps to the next text box when one is completed. This was to make it as idiot-proof as possible, since it's for college students who seem to have a real difficult time following instructions (wonderful type of people to allow to pass out medications to the world, huh? # ).

It's been a couple years (at least) since I wrote that, so I might do it differently now, but it does what it's supposed to, and the company I wrote it for is still using it.
