ACS R7 and PC card.

I wanted to setup the night greetings and ask outside callers to leave messages. The way I am going to do is to use the un-used ext. 14, and when caller transfered over to ext. 14, the VM will kick off, without any rings.

I know what I should do is to turn on Do Not Disturb, but how do I turn on DND on ext.14? Could DND be setup on ext. 14? I thought it can be done only on ext. 10 / ext. 11?

Thanks,

The VMS COVER RING has been already set to "1". Here is my question again:

Ext. has the phone connected, but nobody is using it. I wanted to use this phone for evening greetings, and only for purpose of receiving messages after office hours. I have already setup "select code",and ask customer to enter "9", and they will be actually transfered to ext.14.

I wanted ext.14 kick off its greetings without any rings.

Can I do that?

I heard "Do Not Disturb" can do that, but I also heard only ext.10/11 can setup DND. How can I setup DND on ext. 14.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Ah, yes, if Ext. 14 is a actual phone, but no one is using it as their own, and you want the auto attendant to transfer to it by pressing selector code 9 and not have it make any ringing sound, just answer with its message, yes, you can add a DND button to the phone. Go to the phone and press Feature then dial 00 then press an unused button that has a light next to it and then press Feature and dial 01 then press feature again and dial 00 to exit. Now press the button you just programmed, it will light up, and it will not ring by answer with its voice mail box immediatly when you transfer to it.

You understand my question correctly.

However, the steps you show me doesn't work. Acutally I tried it before myself.

I followed your steps on ext. 14, but when it is up to the point to enter Feature and 01, I got error on the display, and also long sound. Before that, I did exactly what you said.

It won't let me set it up on ext. 14. I don't know where I read it,but it told me that DND only could be done on ext10/11. Is that true?

I am using 18d phone.

just found following sentences on page 272 "PARTNER®

? Do Not Disturb is available only on system telephones.

So are you saying that the phone plugged in as Ext. 14 is not a multiline Partner phone? Just exactly what kind of phone are you using here???

You can put a Do Not Disturb button on ANY Partner phone - but it must go on an unused button with a light next to it.

Are you trying to make a DND button out of something that is already programmed as something that cannot be overwritten? Line maybe a Line button? Or are you trying to put it on one of the 4 buttons at the top of the phone that don't have lights next to them? (DND needs a button with a light, so you know when the feature is turned on and off)

Now Ext. 10 and 11 are the only extensions that can go into System Programming, and Centralized Telephone Programming where you can program buttons for OTHER phones from either of thise two phones.

I did not understand "unused button". It seems working now.

However, the caller still can hear a ring before vm kicks off, although it's better than before. It used to be 2 rings, even though I already set VM COVER RING = 1 ring.

Is it any way I can get rid of that one ring, or that would be it?

Thanks so much for your help!

No even if you were set to no rings the calling party would hear at least one ring as it's being generated from the CO and it's possible they may hear even more.

Even if I set the extension to DND?
What is "CO"?

CO is Central Office. The ring is coming from your local provider. The caller will here that ring before the system could answer it.
