Hi all,
I'm sure this is simple, but I have yet to figure it out. When I add new controls to the control toolbox while editing a userform in the VBE, the new button only seems to persist for the current Excel session. This is annoying, since I use several non-standard controls frequently. However, for some reason the progressbar control sits permanently on my toolbox, after I first added it. What did I do to get that one permanently?

Rob - not 100% on this but just done a coupla tests
Seems to be that on my excel (97 SP2 NT4) if you add controls and put them on a form and then save the workbook, the changes are saved. If you don't save the workbook with the new controls used, they disappear again. Might be worth creating a dummy workbook with a form that has ALL additional controls on and then save this somewhere - seems to work for me after this is done. I'd think you can delete the workbook afterwards but it does seem to need to be saved with the controls on the form initially for it to remain on the toolbar Rgds

Hmmm ... just tried this for myself and the controls were retained after I closed and then re-opened Excel.

I'm using version 9 SR-1 (ie Excel 2000). When I added new controls I did it on a separate page, maybe this has something to do with it.

Or maybe a gypsy cursed your workstation, I dunno Rob?!

If you still lose them after saving onto a new page, unless someone else comes up with a better idea, one workaround would be to export the new page somewhere so the next time you lose it you can import again - still a pain in the bum, but more fo a dull ache than full-on haemorrhoids.

LOL LOL LOL LOL Rgds

Bryan,
Can you explain what you mean by saving the controls to a separate page? I just tried to do the same thing again - created a userform, selected from "additional controls" the RTB control, which put the icon in my toolbox, then dragged an RTB control onto the new userform, and (per Geoff's suggestion) saved the workbook. Closing the toolbox and re-displaying it does not remove the RTB icon, but closing Excel and re-opening has erased the icon. Even opening that workbook up again doesn't help (although the RTB control itself is of course still there, the icon in my toolbox is not). I'm also using XL2000 SR-1. Any ideas what might be going on?

Not a scooby why it's happening to you Rob. Maybe it's just Excel being finnicky?

You can generate a new page by right-clicking on your toolbox. Then right-click on the new page and select additonal controls, you should be fine from there.

Since you're using the same version as me hopefully this will solve the problem.

Yes! Putting the non-standard controls on a new page solved the problem. Thanks Bryan!

Rob, when I modify the toolbox (excel 2000, WIN 98) "EXCEL.box" file in C:\WINDOWS\MsApps\MSForms is updated. Maybe your file is read onle.
Another guess - policy settings - check your rights to update something in windows directory

Glad you got it sorted Rob but I have a question.....When I right click on the toolbox, I don't get an option for "New Page" - is this a post '97 feature ??

I had to click within the toolbox form area, but outside of the original page. That's what confused me at first about Bryan's "new page" - took some tinkering :)
