Would appreciate any advice on how to keep a laptop online that is using wireless access when not using it. The reason I need it to stay online is that I often need to access it remotely using LogmeIn. However the laptop goes offline when not being used for over 30 minutes. It goes right back online automatically if someone uses it in any way but the person must be there to use it. The laptop goes online wirelessly through a router in the apartment.

Check your power saver settings on the laptop and see if there is a setting there that you can change to keep the laptop online.

Hope this helps.

4144,

What you need to change your laptop power settings to is "High Performance" if using Vista/7. If you're using XP, then "Always On" should work.

Then you may want to look at the advanced power settings, and make sure there is no option for turning off the wireless network adapter. That's often a power saving feature that may not be reflected by the main selection, but I don't remember for sure.

If you're using an OS other than Windows altogether, we'd need to know what it is - of course, that'd be helpful to know the exact OS regardless.
