Hi Guys,
First of all, I'd love to thank all the professionals who help out people like myself. I honestly am not sure what I would have done without this forum, or its contributors.

My question involves a side project for an old friend who owns a hotel. He can't afford to upgrade to a new phone system despite my countless efforts to get him to do so. So I am requesting help once again.

How does one interface with a Mitel SX-200 SuperSwitch. (I only have a basic knowledge of old PBX systems. I have managed a Definity G3si v6; however, it had a terminal and was pretty straight forward.)

Is there any way to 'dial in' to the Mitel switch or am I going to have to settle for a printed read-out of what is configured?(Although there isn't any type of output device attached so that would be another hurdle to deal with, but one thing at a time).

The only way I currently have of interfacing with the system is via the Console (Mitel-9110-107-000-NA) but, like I said, I haven't worked with something this old before.

IF there are any Mitel pro's out there who might be able to give me a 'dumbed' down version of how I can interface with the switch mainly to access the feature set,but also to look at the terminal (phones) layout and how to interpret what I see. I do have the manuals; however, it seems to be mostly forms that 'should' have documented what was programmed into the switch, but I guess I should have known better than to wish for such a perfect world.

Also I have 'thus far' been unable to program the night 1 service switch to ring to a cordless phone for the hotel attendant to have with them if they have to leave the office for a moment. The manuals give basic instructions on how to accomplish the setup; but, there's something else blocking it from functioning correctly. I think I know what it is; but, I just thought i'd mention it to see if anything obvious that a rookie wouldn't check.

Wow its been years since I worked on one of those. i had to forget all about the SX200 to make room for 3300 knowledge ( only have limited RAM space ). Afraid I won't be much help but from what I recall there is a maintenance port on the system that you can either connect your laptop to or for remote access a modem. Check the internet for SX200 manuals as they might help you more then I can.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best becuase you always get them.

I deal with these all the time. The only means of programming the system is via an attendant console using the programming overlays to show the alternate key functions. To get a Customer Data Print you will need to connect a computer to the PBX's serial printer port and use a program like Procomm Plus that can capture the data to a text file. You will need the manuals to interpret the printout since it's mostly just numbers.

As for the night phone, it's important that you remember to enter the EQUIPMENT number and NOT the directory number of the extension in programming. Also, to get 'Dial 0' calls to ring the night phone use the Flexible Night Service function to set it up.

Thanks be to you both, at least now I know what I'm dealing with. As soon as I have time, I'll try and get a data capture and figure out what's what in this system. and SUPER SUPER thanks for the extra tips on getting the night service to work.
