How to install third party plug-ins for Illustrator?

A frined of mine has had problems attempting to install some plug-ins to Illustrator. He tried dropping the files in the plug-ins folder of Illustrator, but the plugi-ins would not appear within the program.

How do you intsall plug-ins in Illustrator?

After installing the plugins try this.
Make sure the program is closed. Depending on the version and platform you are on, you will need to find the preferences for Illustrator. Delete them. Then restart the program. This will not affect any file you have. It will only reset the program itself so that it will look like it did when first installed.

Also it this doesn't correct the problem, check to see if the plugin is in the correct folder, make sure it isn't damaged. Replace it with a new copy of the plugin.
