Howdy,

Question, I have around 50 computers at my site, and I'm wanting to install win 2000 SP4 automatically next time they login.

I have tried it with a login.bat script, but it asks the users for an admin password as they don’t have enough privileges to install (I thought login scripts run with elevated privileges). Secondly I tried creating a software install policy in the users group policy, but with the same problems.

I have tried programs like service pack manager 2000 and HFNetChkPro4. Both don’t like my network/workstation setup.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The software group policies worked for me. The policy MUST be machine based. Meaning, it must be assigned in the Computer Configuration software policy and then assigned to the computers (not the users). It won't run the next time a user logs on but it will install itself the next time the computer reboots. I suggest that you reboot them in off-hours because the process is not the fastest I've ever seen. My PIII-600Mhz took 30 minutes.
