What version of Netware are you using? If you are using 5.1, PSQL 2000 (SP1) is already installed. To upgrade, just download the SP3 Patch from Pervasive ( and apply it remotely from a Windows workstation on the network.
To connect from a DOS machine, go to the server's Pervasive directory (SYS/PVSW) and drill down to the Dos Client directory (PVSW\Clients\DOS). Read the Readdos.txt file to see how to set up the client for DOS machines.

Vancouverite is exactly correct, but missed one vital point. If it is NetWare 5.1 it comes with a 90 day unlimited user evaluation key which goes back to a 2 user key once the evaluation is over. In order to apply a permanent user count you just have to get the key which comes in any Pervasive.SQL 2000 box and apply it to the server with the User Count Administrator utility.
