All,
I've downloaded a package called term::readpassword, i could not get it installed right,so here is what i've done
1- i unzipped the file"Term-ReadPassword-0.01.tar.gz" into "lib" directory under "perl"directory
2-i got his directory "Term-ReadPassword-0.01" under "lib"
3- in the dos prompt i typed the following
"C:\Perl\lib\Term-ReadPassword-0.01>c:\perl\bin\perl Makefile.pl"
and i got the following "Writing Makefile for Term::ReadPassword"
4-when i type the following "C:\Perl\lib\Term-ReadPassword-0.01>make install"
i got the following "'make' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file."
also i replaced "make " with "dmake" and "nmake"
i'm still cannot install it.
any help please

First of all i wanna thank you for the reply.Yes i have on my machine ActiverState installation.
I've done exactly what you recommended and i got the following error
what am i doing wrong?do i need to have a different
any advice please?
------------------------
Error installing package 'Term-ReadPassword': Read a PPD for 'Term-ReadPassword'
, but it is not intended for this build of Perl (MSWin32-x86-multi-thread)
------------------------

Right, I'm getting the same error on a Win98 machine, and can't set my repository to the same as the 98 one on my XP box.

What are you using Term::ReadPassword for?

You can do the same thing with Term::ReadKey, is that module any more available?

So what is the solution?do i need to download another version of Perl?
I really need to know how to install packages from CPAN on Win2000 and I'm looking to use just that specific package.
any help will be highly appreciated.

Darine,
From looking at the error message it would appear that it's not built for the x86 architecture. Have a look a t term::readkey as per andrew's suggestion

for installing messages from cpan, ahve a look at the FAQ's here
