I have a PC that seems to be incompatible with rhel 4 and fc6 (optiplex 320) and after installation and reboot, it hangs on the grub boot loader screen. I would like to know a way to remove grub and install lilo in it's place. Is it possible? If not, I also found this patch that apparently works. Assumably I need to add or subtract certain lines from the kernel. What do you think?

What filesystem type is /boot?
Are you using LVM?

To install lilo:
boot from a rh/fc rescue cd
activate volume groups if using lvm (vgchange -a y)
mount the root filesystem to /mnt
chroot to /mnt
install and configure lilo
