how to install cvs?

i am trying to install CVS so that I can have one central place to keep my files even when I am working on different machines.

I thought it owuld be a matter of installing CVS (which I did), but I cant seem to be able to create a directory as the master copy and check-in/check-out from it. anyone knows how?

The manual available on this page is worth a read:

Create a repository:
cvs -d <full path directory name> init
(manual section 2.6, Creating a repository)

Then use import to create a project within the repository.
There are examples in the manual.

ok i am getting some idea about this now thanks!
when i try to checkout with "cvs checkout FolderName" I seem to be only checking out the directories and subdirectories, the files gets skipped. any ideas?

That's odd. Do you see them if you list them in the repository with:

>cvs ls -lR

nope. I only see the directories.

hhmmm... are you sure you've imported/added the files correctly? Maybe try again?
