Hi,

I have two Servers. My Backup Server is under Win2k with Backup Exec 8.5. My Exchange Server is Win NT 4.

backup Exec is running perfectly. Now i have to include the Exchange Server. I have a License for Backup Exec 8.5, The Remote Agent 8.5 and the Exchange Agent 8.5.

Now my question: What is the best way to update? First the Remote Agend then the Exchange Agent?

Does anyone have somie hints for me?

Thank your very much for your help.
Greetings.

The remote agent is installed on the server to be backed up, and the Exchange Agent is installed on your media server. You will need to make sure that your BE service account has full admin access to your Exchange server and also has a BackupExec Exchange mailbox.

To install the agents:
Run the BE install, and select the "Install Backup Exec software or options on this computer", and you get the serial numbers dialogue box.

Select "add" and type in the serial number for the Exchange Agent option (use your existing service account).

To install Remote Agent you will need to add it as an option, as above, then select the Install Backup Exec Options on Remote Computers from the setup menu.

Select Remote Agent for Windows NT/2000 from the Remote Install Options selection list. The "start copying files" dialog will display, read the Warning message (and ensure your remote system complies).

Select the correct domain, specify the server and enter the admin account/equiv + password to that the remote agent can access the server & be installed. Once installed the server will need to reboot before the remote agent install takes effect.
