Depends which Linux you are running, but
loaderinfo reports SCSI tape device info
tapeinfo reports SCSI tape device info
scsitape controls SCSI tape devices

This is on Redhat 9

Run `apropos tape` to see what applications you have installed.
I normally backup using tar and write to /dev/rmt0

Amanda is the backup application included in RH9

You check from # dmesg.
Can Linux detect your scci card?
If Linux can detect your scsi card. That should not a problem to detect your scsi tape.SCSI Tape device = /dev/st..
Good Luck....:)
