how to insert SRC= string from a external js file?

How can I insert an image link from a external js. file at a specific place of my HTML page so that I can change it in the external file only.

let me explain my intention:
I want to have a single *.js file which controls the main template user use.

So, I actually already found out. I simply set a function and document.write(&quot;<img src=/&quot;

which I call at the right place of the document.

Well, it's not so elegant. I'd prefer if I could insert the settings of the object only. For exemple the src for the image, the positioning for the layers and so on.

Have you got an idea how to do this more elegant?

thanks for your help. I really appreciate that. Are you a good programmer? Could you merge 2 menu into one menu for me and for 50$. I believe it wouldn't take you more than 15 minutes in fact you seem to be quite good. I'm new too JavaScript so...
