I've got a customer that has all calls outside of his local exchange now requiring a 1 plus area code to complete the call. Can someone assist me in the programming? Can a 1337 easily be inserted in front of these calls? I'll have to get a list of all exchanges that are not in their local calling area to complete the task. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

They are using analog trunking with trunk group 70. Sorry, I forgot to mention in original post.

Get that list and re-post.

That's where we gotta' start.

If you are looking to hire someone, I am sure you can find my email and others with not much trouble.

What you are asking for is not much and really something this forum can handle.

Catalyst and everyone I asked said I cant add numbers on outgoing calls. Either way, I informed the customer, and now he is interested in switching to IPO! What a deal.

Well, I think (OR RATHER I KNOW) that Catalyst is WRONG BIG TIME!

If I knew which Exchanges REQUIRE the 1 + AC and which Exchanges DO NOT, I can build a table.

That's why I said, "Get the list and re-post".

I can't beleive Catalyst, of all vendors gave that type of answer!

When you rip out the Merlin, send it to me, since Catalyst can't seem to find a use for it!

Well I can give you a couple of numbers. I couldnt find them online to cut and paste.
Their exchange is 893. The area code is 337. Their other local exchanges are 898, 892 etc..that they can dial 7 digits. If they want to call me here in Lafayette, they have to dial 1337232xxxx. and their access code too. Other exchanges are 205 207 210 to name a few.
The chick at Catalyst is new, oh well.
Thanks merlin.

Understand, the LEGEND/MAGIX has an EXTREMELY POWERFUL Pattern Matching ARS Feature.

Also, that being said, it is not for the untrained!

Thus, the way it should be done is this:

The Exchanges that REQUIRE a 1 + Area Code, are to be put in an EXCHANGE Table in ARS.

(Sys Prog > Start/Exit > Tables > ARS > ARS Input > Enter Table Number 1, 2, 3 (to 16) - [What ever is not used yet] - Select Type [Exchange] and press enter and then, for each of the ones that need to dial the 1 + Area code, enter those exchanges. entry 1, 2, 3, etc...)

Now go back to ARS and choose SUB A POOLS, and enter TABLE & ROUTE, )In this case TABLE is the Number you chose above and Route would be just fine as 1)

Put in the POOL, (usually 70).

Now go back to ARS and choose SUB A Digit, and enter TABLE & ROUTE, )In this case TABLE is the Number you chose above and Route would be just fine as 1)

Put in the digits that need to be dialed, like 1337 (As you stated above)

Press enter and that should do it.

And have Catalyst call me if they need any MAGIX/LEGEND Support!

-OR- If that don't work, re-post!

If your local prefixes do not require the 1+area code, but your toll calls within your area code DO require 1+area code, wouldn't you make a list with the local 3 digit prefixes, and a route that just sends them out straight? And then go to the default local table and add the 1+area code digits there?

Otherwise, I'd think that you would have to make a table with EVERY prefix that is within the area code, but NOT local, and add the extra digits there. Seems like more work.

p.s., Area Code 337, Prefix 893 resolves to:

Abbeville, LA

LATA: 488 LAFAYETTE LA

ILEC: 9419 BELLSOUTH TELECOMM INC DBA SOUTH CENTRAL BELL TEL

Guys, thanks a bunch for the help! I was on site today fixing some extensions and had a few minutes to try some stuff out. (Thanks for yer help Tommy per the other forum) I started to feel bad for the customer since I wasnt having much luck, and I was in the clock. I can always dial in later. However, I did get it to work, a bit, by adding the 1337 to the 26-1 table. But then the local calls were not going out, but were working before the change. I put 337 in ARS table 1 then 232 as an example for the next entry. I was able to call my office. And yes local calls are 7 digit within the abbeville area. So it seems after reading your responce that I'll have to do a lot of work putting in the exchanges that are NOT local instead of the other way around. Again, thanks for the informative responses Merlin and TTT.

What TTT says is true, it's just that you have to figure out which route is the least amount of work.
