Hi

I want to create some How to's to add to our workspace (WSS) e.g How to set up alerts etc. Rather than linking to Word documents i'd like to be able to place the information in as FAQ'S using the discussion tool or on a basic page in a document library.

I want to be able to use screenshots to illustrate different task stages. However when I do a screenshot F12 and paste it into a basic page the image doesn't appear and there doesn't appear to be anyway to paste into the discussion tool either.

I dont want to have to create seperate images, in insert into a basic page, for every screen dump - can anyone think of a way I can paste the screen dumps in other than using Word docs?

Thanks

Ok nice idea. but might not be that practical, That way.

Have u considered taking a Page placing an IFrame on it make a simple webpart that links to (MHT) files in some doclib and open them in the frame. Then u can work in word but just save as MHT(not HTML) to give it that nice webpage look.
Alternatively you dont have to make a webpart but just an MHT with links to the pages and make that the default page in the frame, but this is not as nice..

I'm afraid I don't know what IFrame is and i've never heard of a MHT file - not a good sign is it?:))

I'm going to look them up an the internet and try what you suggest.

Many thanks

Well i can help you with that, and IFrame is an inline frame, they work just like the standard frames but it is possile to place them anywhere on the page. In Frontpage 2003 you'll find them under "Insert/inline frame"
To open something in a IFrame just use the target property of an hyperlink.

An MHT file is similair to an HTML page but they contain there images in the file! HTML only link to images(and thats not pretty :p).

And aditional how to search MHT's (not standard on)
To search mht files you need to add mht files to the indexing service.
There's a document on the microsoft site but here's what I did:

1. Log on to the SQL server that Windows SharePoint Services uses as its
database server.
2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. Locate, and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ContentIndexCommon\Filters\Extension
4. Right-click the Extension registry key, point to New, and then click Key.
5. Type .mht to name the new key.

Note There is a period (.) in front of "mht".
6. Click the .mht registry key.
7. In the right pane, right-click (Default), and then click Modify.
8. In the Value data box, type the following line, and then click OK:
{5645C8C2-E277-11CF-8FDA-00AA00A14F93}
Note This registry value contains zeros, not the letter O.
9. Quit Registry Editor, and then restart the Microsoft Search service
(MSSearch).
To restart this service:
a. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc in the
Open box, and then click OK.
b. In the Name list, click Microsoft Search, and then click the Restart link.

Ow and i forgot an you can save files to MHT form MS Word "Save As\Filetype MHT". (description would be something like "Combined WebpageFile")

Thanks very much for your explanation ChaserNL - i'm going to try it out right now.

Cheers :))
