How to increase default volume on NEC Dterm Series E phone/2400 IPX

I have a DTerm Series E phone which has an handset earpiece default volume setting that is too low and I need to increase it. I can increase it using the volume button to an acceptable level but after each phone call it resets to the original level which is too quiet.

I am using an NEC 2400 IPX system.

Does anyone have any idea how to adjust the default setting on the phone? Thanks.

ASYD sys 1 index 384 bit 5. This is system wide. A card reset is required afterward.
