Hi,
I recently took a performance test at pcpitstop.com and it showed I had a severe problem with my uncached file speed it was going around 0.7 MB/s while most computers of my kind were averaging 5.5. What can I do to increase my speed?
These results can cause unnecessary paranoia.
If your computer is performing to your satisfaction, then don't worry about it.
As for the cause, have you got the HDD on its own IDE channel (ideal) or is it shared with a CD-ROM drive? The latter situation can slow data transfer.
Also try enabling DMA. For this go control panel/system/device manager/disk drives/settings and check the DMA box.
Failing this, have you got the latest motherboard drivers? Have you installed them at all??! (They often get forgotten.) My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my rather limited knowledge. Andy.
