Hi friends,

I am using Debian 2.4.18. I want to increase the ARP time out for all the servers. Is it feasible to increase the timeout value from default to 1 or 2 Hr.
Can any body help me?

why would you want to increse the arp timeout value?

when someone asks for your username and password, and much *clickely clickely* is happening in the background, know enough that you should be worried.

There is lot much traffic going on between server of arp request. Anyway all the servers are 24x7 days up and ARP request is sent just for checking availability of the other machine, isn't it? I think this traffic can be decreased to allow other one to gothrough. I found the gc_stale_time.
But will it really help to decrease the traffic?.
can you suggest the timeout value in this case?

Thanks for your reply.
