Hi there,
I am using Seagate Crystal Reports 8.5
and (OLEDB) PDSoledb.dll database driver..
My reports has multiple sections.Using SQL
Server 2000 Views as datasource. When I am
viewing the report from ASP page it is
taking 45 mins for the large amount of data..
How can I improve reports performance..
Can anyone help me..
Cheers

How many records/rows are you returning from your "large amount of data"?

I would assume that the problem lies in the record selection formula NOT being passed to the database.

Open the report in Crystal and test to see that the SQL (Database->Show SQL Query) is reflecting what's in the record selection formula.

If not, check my FAQ for tips faq767-3825 , or post what's in your record selection formula, and the SQL.

Your problem may also be independant of CR...if you have a huge amount of data to collect and are referencing views to get it .... perhaps the view is slow to collect the initial data for CR.

But the first step (as SV pointed out) is to look at the Record Selection formula to see if improvements can be made there

The quality of the answer is directly proportional to the quality of the problem statement!

Hi...

I am also having the same problem. However, I am using access 2000 as the database. therefore, i am unable to use the method that is suggested. Is there any other way for me to solve this problem? Really appreciate any help given.

Thanks...

zion23,

If you adopt synapsevampire's suggestion of using a SQL expression to filter the records, you should also check that you have appropriate indexes set up on the server. In particular, you should have indexes for the field(s) that take part on the WHERE clause, the join (if any), the grouping and the ORDER BY clause (if any).

Hi

If your report takes to long to generated
there a link problem somewhere.
you might consider creating views to get the info you need
for your report

i have a report here that has 9 views and 140 formula
and it takes only 1:45 mintes to generated

cheers
