Hi, I need to import an .sdf (standard data format) file into my Access 2000 database on a routine basis. However, I couldn't find this file type when importing it. Any suggestions? Do I need a ODBC driver? The .sdf file comes from local area network.

Thanks a bunch

Hi

By SDF you mean fixed width format yes?

Use the File \ Import to define a Specification which defines the field sizes, types etc, this is not very intuitive, go into the file import wizard as if you are going to import the file, then click the advanced button, then define the fields, types etc, then saveas the specification with a name, you can then re-use the specification in subsequent imports, or in code using the DoCmd.TransferText command

It is easier to do than to explain!

Hope this helps
