I would like to import a gif-file (for example a fish) and have the background of the fish transparent in Flash. So that in a movie with a motion-tween of the fish you see only the fish moving and not a rectangular form with the fish inside. Is that possible?
In Photoshop I know how to make a gif with a trasnparent background but that transparency seems to disappear when importing it it Flash. Can anyone help?

I use about 3 different graphic programs and never had a
problem with transparency. Could there be a step you might
be missing when you save your graphics?
If you are talking about the frame that appears around the
graphic when you are editing your Flash movie then this
is normal and will not show up when you preview or compile
your movie.

Although you should be able to get the effect you want with the .gif format it's better to use .png images with Flash if you need to use transparency - the image quality is much better and you don't get the hard-edged 'halo' that happens with .gifs.

Thanks. so I will use png-files.

Also very memory/filesize efficient in Flash (but not elsewhere!).
