Hi,

I'm wondering if there is a way I can import expired images that span multiple tapes. Unfortunately only one of the tapes hasn't been overwritten the other one has. So is it possible to import the expired images on the tape that was not overwritten? May it be possible to trick netbackup into thinking all of the fragments are there when they aren't?

Thanks in advance,
Enoch

There are a number of threads in this forum which point to how to restore data from NB tapes using tar....NB uses a modified version of tar or used to at any rate. If you can get it to tar -tvf then you should be set. You might need to do something like mt -f /dev/nrst0 fsf =1 to space the tape one file mark first.

There are also some third party Windows tar variants but they don't seem to be able to handle NB tapes all too well.

If you get a chance to try this let us know.
