Hi! I have a problem with importing from excel. I have a table with deliveries where I have to save every delivery made. Thats why I need an Autonumber field so that there will be a new unique row for each delivery. But when I make a delivery of products from an excel-file it doesn't work. I can insert to a table without autonumber, so I understand how to do that, but I dont know why I have so much trouble with tables with autonumberfields.
Does anybody know???? Which is the easiest way??
using "get external data" or using a macro that makes the import. I would like to have a form where you make the import from.

Please help

thanks

May not be the prettiest or best but you could try, creating a half way house table - consisting of all the data but without the auto number. Import into this. Then use an append query to add it to the correct table. Then clear out the half way house.

Graham is right. that's what i do too.
another option is if the excel file is always called the same thing and always stored in the same place, you can LINK to it, and write an Append query based on the Excel link to append the records into the main table.
