hello-

I know this can be done but just figure out "how" to do it. I have an Excel sheet in which I'd like a pdf on my desktop to be imported (or perhaps that is not the correct word for this) into a cell with an Excel spreadsheet.

I would like to see the icon of the pdf file as it is on my desktop but now in the cell of this Excel spreadsheet so that anyone can open the Excel spreadsheet and then click on the cell where the pdf resides and it will open.

I've tried importing it in various ways from within Excel but brings in the file "opened" within the specific cell and makes it look rather odd and exposed...

does anyone know how to do this??
thanks for any help

You can select insert > object and select Create from file tab, browse to the PDF, make sure 'link to file' is NOT ticked, and that dislpay as Icon is ticked. You can hit the Change Icon button and either browse for another icon you have, or simply change the caption to something you prefer, so you will see text instead of an icon.

If you want an icon you could see if you can find a pdf icon on your PC, or create one that is similar.

This is the only way I can see of doing this, though am using Office 97.
