Can anybody point me to any basic guides to implementing dfs on a windows 2003 server AD domain? I am having trouble finding answers to basic questions such as whether or not the DFS root should be on a DC or should it be on a member server? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each? If the root is "installed" does it actually reside on that ONE specific machine so that if that machine is down DFS is not available? It looks easy enough to go through the install instructions but I need some "best practices" kind of info if anybody can help out.

thanks in advance

Tons of stuff thats for sure. I'd still like to know what real people are doing in their environments vs the technical documents put out by microsoft etc..

My guess is that they're following the technical documents put out my Microsoft...since it's their product.

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

There are no more PDC's! There are DC's with FSMO roles!
