how to identify network cards from bios hex vendor id ?

hi,martyn here.

have some (working)pci network cards I would like to use on my home network(w98,linux,dos & novell 5)They have NO fcc id or manufacturer name but bios reports vendor id's in hex. how can I resolve these id's into manufacturers names ? btw these cards will b used on w98 & novell so linux generic chipset drivers won't help.

just checking to make sure the id number is in hex and not an alphanumeric...?

what utility are you using to extract that info?

what are the chip IDs, if any, on the chipsets? it's frequently easier to do a web search based on the chipset number (only, skip the names).

i am a bit maniacal when it comes to these deals, so please post more info, i'll try to help!

another very hot lead on your problem -- link to this webpage and notice on the picture of the ID tag of the network card that the far left number is in fact a hex number. Follow the directions on this page to submit query for the OUI number.
