How to identify an extension number 1

I'm trying to straigten out a wiring mess--seems that folks don't know what extensions some of the wires are connected to. If I plug in an 18D phone, is there a code I can dial that will tell me what extension number it is plugged into?

You need to call the 18D and it will display the ext number.

if you plug the 18D into the jack you want to identify and hit Feature 0 0, it will tell you the extension #.
