Hi all,

well, the question is following:

I'm runngin an AIX server, UNIX 5.1

I'd like to be able to launch a BATCH-lmike file which would compress some files from one directory into ONE file, then beeing sent automatically to a given e-mail, OR uploaded to a given place FTP.... all this should be done just by launching one command, or batch file or what ever....

I know it's basic for you, but isn't for me...

Many thnx for those who gimme a solution for this :)

Cheers,

bs

Sorry, haven't much time - try a keyword search in this forum for 'attachment'. HTH.

uuencode xxx.log xxx.log >> logs.txt

cat logs.txt | mail -s "ANY SUBJECT " yourname@yyy.com

This will convert the xxx.log into the format that is acceptable for the mail attachment.
Then it sends it.

levw: well, thats fine so far, thank you, but.. can't I compress some files (not logs) into TAR format (or any other zipped thyingie), and THEN send THIS as attachment?

Thnx in advance....

thnks very much.... so that means it converts the TAR file into a txt file to make it 'e-mail-able'?
Well... and how do i get the TAR format back, once back to the server??? :D
