I have 5 messages in my smtp queue for a certain domain not sending. The receiving end exchange admin says they don't see any connection attempt from us. How do I look at the log of those queued emails see what is going on in the process? Is it keep retrying with the correct IP address? what does state active mean, does it mean it's retrying?

I did that, and the problem is in my log file, I see all the other emails being sent, except the on that's in queue with the status of "active". I did nslookup and it is responding. I also did a telnet to port 25 make sure I have connection to the recipient server. But those messages are still sitting in the queue.

And you gave the SMTP Service a quick restart to kick it up the whatsit?

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME

silly windows.
god..
for all these times.

Well, thanks budd!

I'm not sure where you were going with that one. I'm fed up of the times that I've had to kick the SMTP service so it's not a daft idea although I'll concede that it should never really have to happen.
So if it fixed it, bravo. If it didn't fix it then..........
