I am setting up a mailing list for my company, and i am a novice at access, but do have a lot of experience in excell and VB.

I was wondering if there is an easy way to have the date entered automatically into a field when a name is typed in on the same row but a different field (like the primary key autonumber system)

If it is possible where do i enter the expression or format?

Thanks

I assume that the default property isn't what you want as you want the value put in the box when the other field is being edited? Is this true both for edits and adds? JHall

in table design, go to the properties for the date field. In the default value box put either Now() or Date(). Now function returns the current date and time, Date function returns the date only. FYI, the default value can equal any valid VBA function the database has access to.

Thanks Guys!

Problem solved.
I love it when it is that simple
