Hi,

I have a few computers connecting to Netware 4.11, using the last release of the Novell client. It works pretty well. Using Windows 2003 with the same client, however, doesn't work. In the "Novell Login", when i press on the "Trees" button, it takes a few minutes before the list of trees appears. When it appears, it contains either one of the 3 trees or no tree at all.

I know that it's not a telecom issue, since using a laptop with the same cable gives me the tree list.

I don't know much about Netware. I know that this server is using IPX but that it also has an IP address. What I'm looking for is a way to hardcode the tree, context and server for the server i'm trying to reach in the Windows 2003 computer so it won't have to try to detect the trees.

Is there some way to do this? Or anything else I should try to troubleshoot this issue? I know that the config of the Novell client on the Windows 2003 computer is exactly the same as on the other computers.

Typing it in manually would be an answer, same with the context and server field, as upon the first successful login it should save these details for future logins. You can force a standard NetWare login profile onto the workstation with a registry file if you wished.

For info, Netware 4.x servers will only communicate via IPX. It will not use IP for standard network connections - IP is ususally added to a NetWare 4.x server for printing purposes.

I have already tried to type it manually, and I get the error that it can't find the network path.

Is there something else I could do?

in the property's of the client
default location tab - fill in the details

i also may be worth install the client only with ipx support - as it aint gonna use ip to login anyway -

Are you running IPX on your 2003 computer and is thr Movell Client configured for IPX (if you did a typical install, probably not)
