I'm running Solaris 10 X86 L1+A used to do the trick on version 8 with Sun hardware I also would like to know how to get to the ">" prompt to run a boot -r.

The > prompt is the PROM, which unfortunately does not exist on x86 hardware. It's not a part of the Solaris operating system itself. I'm not sure what the alternative is for you, unless you have a boot loader like GRUB installed?

Annihilannic.

On the Sun hardware (SPARC) the alternative to:
> boot -r

is:
# touch /reconfigure
# init 6

to perform a 'reconfigure reboot'.

But as we don't use Solaris on x86 where I work, I am not sure if this works on x86.

I hope that helps.

Mike
