Apparently there is a way to get an HTTP server to return its version number. I suspect that it can't be done with just an ordinary browser but might be possible with a perl script using LWP. Does someone know how to accomplish this? TIA.

If you check the headers you can get an idea, but headers can very easily be faked and do not always contain the version either.

No matter what you do though, you cannot do this in HTML or CSS. If you are going to do this in Perl, it belongs in the Perl forum. (forum219)

Hope this helps

Thanks for confirming. I suspected it could not be done with HTML but wanted to make sure I didn't miss something.
