Does one know if a software (complement to MS Front Page) exists to eliminate repetitive unnecessary HTML code?

Use DreamWeaver is the best
there is also a good forum here of the same of which i am a member now dreamweaver has come with a few new products that support even asp & jsp

regards
Unicorn11
webmaster@tripmedia.com

Hi there it all likeminded fellows!!!!!!

use NOTEPAD it adds NO code at all ;]]]
and you don't need any forum to understand how to use it ;]]]

There is no compliment software with frontpage to remove excess HTML code - that is the problem with using it to design a site. You might try downloading allaires version of homesite from <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> and once you have it installed running the html validation settings on your pages. This will identify any code that is not necessary or badly nested tags (which frontpage does a lot of) and makes it easier for you to remove once it is identified.

You will also find that homesite is a great tool to work with - makes page development so easy. Hope this helps.

in dreamweaver there is a option where u can clean html option in the dream 2 and dream 3 in the command section plus there to apply source formating so that your source looks good
regards
Unicorn11
webmaster@tripmedia.com

Hi there it all likeminded fellows!!!!!!

FFaucher,

It's possible all the ugly "superfluous code generated by Frontpage is there to deal with idiosyncracies / bugs of various versions of various browsers - these are the bane of all Web programmers.

If you decide you want to hand-code your pages as Iza suggests:
* you'll need to learn the idiosyncracies of Internet Explorer 4 and Netscape Navigator 4, the most commonly used browsers - in HTML and, if you use it, in Javascript.
* Rather than use notepad, download 1st Page 2000 from <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> or, if you can't find it there, from <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> (the creators, but they're in Australia) - it's a very good text-based editor, includes a very good HTML reference, and it's FREE!!

To WebGodiva,

Can you explain more precisely how to run the Allaire's Homesite HTML validation settings on my page?

Thanks,
ffaucher
