Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to get rid of just the printer popups balloons and not the other popups? I find it very annoying and it become very inefficent to do my work. I have to stop what I am doing and close those popups. So any good ideas on how to get rid of this popup balloon problem?

Thanks

what kind of popups are they? .. it could be associated with printing software you installed when the printer was put on (besides the driver).

Found this a while ago, still haven't tried it, in fact I'll do it now !

Disabling the network print notification balloon windows in Windows XP SP2
After installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2, a balloon window is displayed every time a print job is sent to a networked printer informing the user that the job has been spooled succesfully. You may wish to disable this option.
To disable the network print notification balloon windows in Windows XP SP2:

Use a registry editing tool to navigate to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\Settings

Change the value with the following details:
Data Type: DWORD
Value Name: EnableBalloonNotificationsRemote
Value: 0

Stop and restart the spooler service for the change to take effect
Registry Settings Summary
Key NameHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\Settings
Value NameEnableBalloonNotificationsRemote
Value TypeREG_DWORD
Value Data0x00000000

Just did it. However the dword reg entry wasn't there so I had to add it. Worked ok.

When in the reg

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\Settings

Click in the right pane (most likely lists your printers)

New> Dword

Name as above. It will default to 0x00000

Done

A non-registry way of disabling it:

Start ->printers and faxes. Then go file ->servef properties and click on the advanced tab. Uncheck the box next to "show informational notifications for network printers". Then click "OK".

If desired, you can also disable the notifications for local printers on the same tab.

Cheers.
