Dear all,

My ISP forces my company to use their transparent proxy servers to access the Internet. Can I get rid of it by setting up a local site proxy server and have all browsers change to that proxy server manually? Will I still go through their transparent proxy again?

Jack

Yes, you should go through the isp transparent proxy server.
Because the ISP already routed your internet connection to transparent proxy server.
You can check with the ISP.
Maybe they can bypass the transparent proxy server for your company.
So You can access internet directly without transparent proxy.
Good Luck

Is there any real reason for wanting to bypass the proxy?
If you are suffering from reliability problems then you can probably use another proxy since the isp is likely to have quite a few. You could set up your own proxy and have it peer with all of your isp's proxies.

The reason why we need to bypass the transparent proxy is because we just purchased a web-base service that need IP authentication but our outgoing IP they indicated is always this transparent proxy IP but not our own IP... That implies all the clients from our ISP can use our purchased web-base service without any paid!

What's mean by "set up my own proxy and have it peer with all of my isp's proxies"? Do you mean that once we set up our own proxy, we can bypass our isp's proxies in some way?

Btw, I'll try to talk to the isp and if they can't bypass me, I'll change another one! :D

Sounds like you need a real ip address and isp instead of this nutty system.
