Hi,

I want to get rid of the FIN_WAIT_x on my AIX 4.3.3 server immediately (as soon as we find one) and without programming changes. I was advised to use "no" command to change network parameters like tcp_keepidle and tcp_keepintvl, but none of the descriptions of these 2 parameters seem to fit my need.

In current versions of Solaris, there is an actual parameter name fin_wait_2_flush_interval that an administrator can change, do we have any similar parameters like that in AIX?

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,

There was an APAR (IY32395) for Aix 4.3.1 that was provided a tunable parameter (tcp_finwait2) for FIN_WAIT_X. I don't know if this APAR works for other levels of Aix.
But if you're using Apache and it's the problem, I think there is some workaround in httpd.conf file for it (KeepAlive option)
