how to get proxy from browser?

Hi,

I wrote an applet to transfer data via HTTP PUT.
Now I want to use the proxy server configured in the browser.
How can I get this information? I need the servername and port of the HTTP proxy.

thanks for your reply. I read this article before. I think, it only explains how to set proxy configuration. So you need to know the proxy server and port.

But I need to get the proxyserver ans port. A user runs the applet, accepts a certificate and the applet uses current proxy settings of the user's browser.
