Is there any way to send the Report Designer view of a report to the printer? (Other than using multiple PrintScreens...)

I want to have copies of our FRX layouts as seen in the Report Designer (c/w controls, bands, etc.) for our inhouse programmer's documentation.

Why not use a screen capture tool? You would have to do it manually, but presumably this is a one-off job, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I do this sort of thing all the time to capture images for my training manuals. I use Paintshop Pro, but there are plenty of other screen capture tools on the market.

I don't know of any way of doing it within VFP.

Thanx Mike ... I currently use HoverSnap as a great screen capture tool that writes the selected area to a JPG, but it still requires matching /overlaying vertical captures for the final documentation product.

This is more painstaking now in VFP9 with extended length of the Report Designer screens.

I was hoping for an existing utility for this; I have about 200 FRXs that I would like to have documented.

Take a look at a product called SnagIt from TechSmith.

It's a dandy screen capture tool that will do a whole window (or region, or any of several other options) and the best part is it's an automation server.

You could automate the task of capturing those 200 reports.

OK Dan ... thanx for that tip ... sounds like what I may be looking for.

Maybe some day I can write a VFP tool to do this ...

Hi
Have a look at this..

Screen Capture/JPG/BMP/Wallpaper
faq184-4824 by Baltman

I have developed something like this and any part of the screen form etc.. (specific.. auto screen capture when a bug/ error pops up) which can be viewed later on by the developer.... The point is that it is not very big or complicated as it sounds.

Quite a few lines of code into a class and drop them in your basic form where you need .. or instatiate it thru init of form evaluating to your need condition.

In your specific case, macro it and call it with a function key when the report designer is on. You should be thru it.

:)
