I would appreciate if someone could help me letting me know if there is a perl function that can return the pid number of a process. That is, if a perl script is process number xxx, a call to that function should return xxx. I know that exists "getppid" that returns the pid of your parent process, but didnt found any for "my" process.

Thank you. [sig][/sig]

The special var $$ contains the process id of the Perl running the script. [sig]<p> <br><a href=mailto: > </a><br><a href= > </a><br> keep the rudder amid ship and beware the odd typo[/sig]
