Hi
After the exchange 5's server death I started with new server, win2k server and exchange 2K to get email going. All configuration of new server is same as the old dead one.
what is the easiest way to get old emails and address book from the drive of old server? I can access the exchange directory of the dead server's disk.
thank you.

You are going to have to create a new server with the same name as the old server. Copy the pub.edb and priv.edb from the server out of exchsrvr\mdbdata directory. after you save them in the same directory of the new server you need to go to dos and run the restore from file utility...

it has been a long time since i restored from DOS.. it is either

ISINTEG.EXE with the approprate switches

or

EDBUTIL.EXE

I think it is isinteg.

Any way after you get the 5.5 server back up, install adc and upgrade...

there is no other way that I have ever heard of...

Thanks Ken!
I can do all that on a server that is not connected to the network since the new server has same config. If I successfully run isinteg and have a working Exchange 5.5 server how do I then move emails and address book on the new server where everyone has access to them like before? The address book is not private so all users need to see it.
thanks.
