I am trying to produce a report that spans two pages horizontally. The best solution that I've found so far is to insert a cross-tab in the report header and suppress empty rows/columns etc. This will produce an extra page for the first page, but none after that. Anyone have any ideas for what would seem to be a fairly common requirement? Thanks.

What exactly are you trying to do? It sounds like you just want a very wide display page?

In any section of Crystal you can right click it and select format section (or something similar, please remember to post your software version with any post in any forum), and select New Page After to have a new page start.

You can have pages span to the right using a crosstab, but that's the only method I know of.

It's not a common request, usually the reverse as printing gets strange then.

Thanks for the response.
I am trying to print a report where the number of columns spans across two pages. In the page header section I have date headers (i.e. Jan '05, Feb '05). The number of column headers can be more than what will fit on one page. (landscape orientation or otherwise) So I need virtual pages for all of the pages in my report. The problem is that the cross-tab object can't be placed in a detail section. I have pages in my report that contain only detail sections when printed/previewed. These pages are untouchable - I can't access any horizontal pages for these areas.

CRystal bases it's display on the printer being used, you can sleect a wider printer and/or paper size to get a wider display, but the virtual page stuff is limited to crosstab functionality.

I think that you misunderstand what a crosstab is, it pivots data based on groupings and summaries, it's not a means to just create columnds of data.

Might want to read up on these.

I'd suggest trying to build out your datasource in a View or SP on the database side that will allow for a crosstab at a group level if that'sw what you really want.
