Hello guys.
Just bought the used Norstar system on auction.
What is the best way to get help and manuals?

I tried the tech support of Nortels. But it is seemed to be very protected.

Thanks in advance,
Yuri.

Tech support is only for tech's at Nortel and they give us PIN numbers for the protection but this is why this forum exists so we can all help each other instead. :)
If your not sure what type of system then describe as best you can or even take a picture and show us.

How do you distinguish between 8X24 and 0X32.
As of software - I'm trying to find where to download it - without any success. Nortel is worse than Microsoft. Do not give you anything at all. Everything is hidden.

will appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Yuri.

What is your intension for the system? Are you familar with amphenol cables and connecting blocks? Did you get any phone or just a phone system? You can go to I believe they have pictures of the different systems. which may help you Identify it. thephoneboy

Actually it is the working system.
It has ICS with 2 T1 truncs and 1X6port optical trunc that currently holds up 4 digital truncs M0X16 and Voice Mail module.

It is in a working condition and supports organization of 70
people.

We are going to add additional T1 soon.

The only thing that is written on ICS is Norstar. And that is it.

Right now we are administering the sytstem from the phones using Coordinator's Guide and Voice Mail user reference.
But I was wondering whether it is possible to administer it using PC. This way our IT stuff can response much effectively.

Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Yuri.

If it is working system with 2 T-1s and A 6 port fiber card. It has to be a Ox32. The 8X24 does not support T-1. If you already have 2 T-1s cards in the system you cannot add another one to the system. Unless you Upgrade too teh 6.0 Software(so I am told). You started off asking where to get help. If you installed it you must have some manual information. I am confused. I would like to be helpful but don't really know what your question is.

My main question is - where I can find the resources and whitepapars on this system. Because Nortel doesn't provide any clear documentation at all.
The other question is - where I can download the software to administer my system (Phones, lines, mailboxes) and to get call logs for particular phones.

Thanks for help in identifying what is the system that I have.

Yuri.

If your project is to install this system in your office and you will need 3 T1 trunk, you must upgrade the system with the MICS 6.0 Software. When you buy this software you will get all documentation in PDF format on a CD included in the box.

Good Luck!!!!
