how to get absolute path

Hi, I have directory structure lke


home
->-> John
->->->-> Projects
->->->->->->->sites
->->->->->->->->->Html

If I want to know what is the absulute path of the folder sites, canI find that out? in this directory everything remains the same but "John" can be different for different ppl depending on their first name

If your script runs in the Html folder and you need to know the structure above that, then one of the variables in the $_SERVER array will help.

or realpath(). this will return an absolute path from the system root rather than the docroot.
