How to get a microphone input in VC++?

Hi,

Have Just started out on VC++. I have problems trying to get a microphone input for my program. Basically, I would like to sample the input waveform and manipulate it?

however i do not know how to use VC++ to query the mic for the waveform ?

can anyone help?
