I have been working with Avaya systems for over 10 years and really want to branch out to something new like Skype or Cisco voice. I did earn my CCNA and currently studying for the SIP cert. I'm thinking if I can convince a potential hiring manager to take me in with minimal experience, I'm not sure what else I can do to get a position working with Skype or Cisco voice.

Look for a job at Meijer's HQ, if you'd want to move to Grand Rapids. They just went from all Avaya to what you are looking for.

If you worked with Avaya for 10 years you don't have minimal experience. You just have different experience than Cisco or Skype.
You have more experience with Avaya than most of my colleagues because the company came to Avaya when the Nortel stuff got snatched.

That is still experience in the phone world and if you didn't only install 4 phone systems with embedded voicemail the entire time then you can show that off to any other vendor and they know that you can learn your stuff no matter what it may be.
SIP trunks are all the same (more or less)

Wear the Avaya experience proud without being too cocky then you will have no issues I bet finding a new job with another vendors BP.
