we would like to set up the following.

we currently using a hunt group in order to provide coverage depening on who is in and out of the office.

we would also like to have the ability for someone to be "logged into" and recieve calls on a cell phone

the problem is that when a user logs into the hunt group all of the3 forwarding on the phone is dropped.

does anyone have any thoughts on a workaround for this

A calling group member CANNOT have their phone forwarded. If their phone is forwarded and they log in - it will do what you observed - automatically cancel the forwarding.

any other way yo achieve this without a hunt group then? what about some type of off premise extension?

I have used these in the past
I'm not sure this is really going to help you. You could overflow the group to another group and have this device "call forward" to the cell phone. Quite honestly, I have read of a new program from AVAYA where you can trade in you Legend system and get 15% off of a IP500. That system will do exactly what you are asking.
