How to format Word doc into a published book

Sorry, but I searched for the forum and couldn't find the answer. Maybe I need a pagemaker textbook.
Anywho, a friend gave me his pagemaker sfwr and I'm trying to import a Word doc into Pagemaker and set it up as a book; for saddle stitching or stapling up the middle; landscape;
I can't get the format for book publishing. Went to help, and still don't understand.
Does someone have a resource that I can read (online)? thanks.

If this was a legit transfer, then you should have received the full package including the User Guide.
