You can find someone with a Windows 98 Boot Floppy. Boot the computer from that floppy... Then you want to type "format c: /u /s". That would be the best way to do it.

Hi,

You surely wouldn't zap linux in favor of windoze ?? [snail]

Anyway, I don't think a simple format will work because the partition table has the 'wrong' partition type.

If there's nothing else on that drive you can probably just use the M$ 'fdisk' command to delete the partition(s) and then use it again to create a fat / fat32 partition . Just boot the win98 CD and select boot from hard disk with cd support or whatever. Hopefully, it'll stop with a DOS prompt - you can then use fdisk from the CD (D:\ - might be C:\ if it doesn't recognise hard drive) . Once you've created the windows partition(s) then you'd format it ..... and you should be set for the install.

Otherwise, you could boot to linux and use the linux fdisk to delete the partitions (as root) :

# /sbin/fdisk /dev/hda

If all else fails get hold of partition magic or similar (
Lastly, why not do a dual-boot system with win98 and linux - its not too tricky in most cases.

Hope this helps
